Leading by Example

Leadership is the act of setting the right example for those who follow. Leadership is about actively demonstrating our belief, not just talking about it. People who say one thing but do another eventually lose credibility.

Leading by example is one of the strongest ways we can show our dedication to our company, our department or our team. As a leader we can say whatever we want, but the actions that we take show who we are.

Example isn’t another way to teach, it is the only way to teach — Albert Einstein

Leading by example involves responding quickly, acting decisively and communicating our rationale. When we work alongside our employees, we also have the opportunity to capture and demonstrate best practices. A leader leads by example, whether he intends to or not.

When we lead by example, we set the tone for your team and create a culture in our department and office.

Summing-up: A good example has twice the value of good advice. Great leadership is done with integrity and honesty. When we practice the same good habits that we preach to our team members, we show integrity in our actions and become more trustworthy.
